Stephan Arce-Penedo

Stephan Arce-Penedo (b. 1992) is a versatile and dynamic composer, audio engineer, and educator currently residing in Austin, TX, with a rich background in media. He holds a Master of Music from Texas State University, where he studied under renowned composers Michael Ippolito, Richard Hall, and Jack Wilds. His Bachelor of Arts in Radio, TV, and Film from the University of North Texas provided him with technical expertise in audio and sound recording.
A Panamanian immigrant, Stephan skillfully blends his cultural heritage with classical training and contemporary influences to create diverse, unique compositions. His work often explores the challenges of immigration and the complexities of modern life, with pieces like “A Fish on a Bike Living in a Box,” “Una Incertidumbre,” “Rest Stop,” and “$7.25,” each inspired by his day-to-day experiences.
Stephan's compositions have been featured in dance, film, and other media, with performances at colleges, universities, theaters, and high schools across Texas and in Brooklyn, New York. His works have also been showcased at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) in San Antonio. He has collaborated with esteemed ensembles such as the Metroplex Clarinet Quartet, the Apollo Saxophone Quartet, and the Amorsima Trio.
When not composing, Stephan enjoys exploring Austin’s vibrant art scene, connecting with the community, and savoring the city's culinary offerings. He is also an enthusiastic supporter of urban farming, particularly his love for chickens, which provide endless entertainment and companionship.
