Midnight Drive

"Midnight Drive" is a short piano piece that originated from a sketch I created during a composition class at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2016. While exploring polytonality, I developed the first eight measures by combining chords at the piano and carefully listening to their interplay. In 2022, I revisited and expanded this idea to enhance my piano music catalog and collaborate with a pianist. The opening chords' airy and dream-like quality inspired me to create a relaxing and limerent piece with a subtle hint of darkness. My goal is to evoke a sense of eerie beauty in the listener.
